Task 1
Southend Video
The aim of this short film was to show what Southend is like if you were part of a group, so you could feel what it was like to be there. The whole video was filmed, edited and published all in one day. In our group, I chose to do all of the cinematography, and if we were to do this again, I wouldn't change my position. A lot of the shots were fun to take, especially the ones taken along the pier, although it was super windy. One main thing that I would change to this film if we were going to do it again, would be not take as many establishing shots of Southend as they got a little repetitive through the film. Another improvement would be to have a clearer narrative towards the audience, as well as film through the different parts of the day in more locations. Overall i think this short film was a great success to show what Southend is like considering this was everyone's first time, including my own, to make a film as a group together!
Editing Task with Luke
Here is one of the editing tasks that I did with Luke. We had to take a movie trailer we liked and then put a piece of music over the top that was the complete opposite genre. I chose to do The Maze Runner trailer with really happy music over the top.
I-SCREAM
This is our attempt at making a 15 second short horror film, where we filmed it at a milkshake shop nearby, and made this from it! A behind the scenes and interview video will be also made to go along with this film. This film has also been submitted to the world 15 second horror film festival where after waiting for a long time, we now have the results, and it has been put into the TOP 10 short horror films out of the 375+ that were in the same competition!
The original video idea for this was to have a little girl go up to an ice cream truck on a sunny day, where the ice cream man was a really old creepy guy with an eye patch on, where the girl would ask for a flavour of ice cream, and she would then see an eye in the ice cream and drop it screaming and running away. We realised this couldn't work as all the days where available to film was raining, as well as the challenge of having to find a free ice cream van to use, and we didn't have a girl to film. We eventually settled on after discussing a few ideas to each other, to try and get a milkshake shop that's free to use and have the eye in the milkshake instead of an ice cream, and that is what we did.
A short interview and behind the scenes of making this film are available to watch below of the main film.
Interview
Behind the Scenes
Man of the Year Music Video
We were given the task to make a music video in the space of only two hours, which included planning, filming and editing it so we had a final product to show. We chose Man of the Year by Juice Wrld as our song for the video, and this is what we came up with.
My Music Video Presentation
This is my music video presentation, where the video of the presentation is down below!
I feel like the good things about the presentation was the detail that I put into each slide of what I was going to say, but to improve, I should've gone over the presentation more before I went to go and present it.
Foley Sound
We were given the task to make between 3 and 6 sound effects using random objects around our houses, but I decided to do a tad more so I could possibly use them in my future projects! I used my own shotgun microphone which was a Rode Video Mic Pro+ plugged into my camera to get great audio recordings! In the demonstration video I show you how I took the video's with the audio in them and then converted them to mp3 using Adobe Audition. All of the sound effects are below!
